Tin whistle XII

Olá! Fazia um bom tempo que não postava, mas aqui estou de novo. De qualquer maneira, eu não tive muito a escrever nessas semanas, porque não havia nenhuma novidade. Eu dissera que escolhera diversas novas melodias para aprender a tocar, mas a verdade é que eu estacionei nas melodias que aprendera nos primeiros meses, então não há novidade. Também, eu desanimei um pouco porque aprender ornamentações tem sido difícil, e apesar de eu não ter parado de tocar, eu tinha consciência de que precisava avançar no meu aprendizado. De qualquer maneira, espero poder lhes contar novidades muito em breve! Continuem visitando este blog!

Hello! Long time no post, but here I am again. In any case, I had nothing to write about these weeks, because there was no novelty. I'd said I'd chosen several new tunes to learn, but the truth is that I stagnated on the songs I'd learnt throughout the first months, so there's no news. Also, I somewhat lost the will to play because learning ornamentations has been so difficult, and although I haven't stopped playing, I was conscious that I needed to advance in my learning. Anyway, I hope I can tell you news very soon! Please keep on coming back to this blog!

Tá bom, eu não sabia que se podia polir coisas de metal com creme dental. Daí, eu comentei com minha mãe:
- Preciso comprar um líquido polidor de metais, pra polir meu tinwhistle.
Então ela disse:
- Mas você pode fazer isso com pasta de dente.
Na hora eu não acreditei, mas hoje eu resolvi testar. E não é que funcionou?! Aliás, funcionou tanto que meu tinwhistle, que não tem pintura por cima do metal, ficou brilhando como novo. Não, melhor, brilhou mais do que quando era novo! Todas as marcas de dedos e do tempo sumiram.
É como dizem: "Vivendo e aprendendo..."

Tin whistle XI (English)

Alright, I didn't know that one could polish metal things with toothpaste. So I said to Mom:
- I need to buy a metal polisher to polish my tinwhistle.
Then she said to me:
- You can do that with toothpaste.
I didn't believe it at that very moment, but today I felt like giving it a try. And it worked! By the way, it worked so well that my tinwhistle, which received no painting over the brass, shined like it was brand-new! Better yet, it was brighter than when it was brand-new. All the finger marks and those caused by time and use are now gone.
That's why one says, "Living and learning..."

Faz um mês que eu fiz a última postagem. Nesse mês, eu somente pratiquei mais as músicas que aprendera até agora. Neste fim de semana, escolhi algumas músicas novas para aprender, ou melhor, escolhi duas novas, porque duas delas eu já escolhera há um certo tempo, entre elas a tão mencionada "The trip to Sligo". Eu cheguei a tocá-la, mas ainda tenho muito que praticar.

I posted for the last time a month ago. In that month I only practiced the tunes I'd learned so far. This weekend, I chose two pairs of new tunes to learn, I mean, two new tunes, because two of them I'd already chosen a certain time ago, being among them the so-mentioned "The trip to Sligo". I even played it for a while, but I have much to practice on it yet.

Shortly ago I made a new recording of "Old hag". It took a lot of time but it's here. =] It's a pity that my tinwhistle's sound isn't the same of when I bought it anymore, but it's good still. Of course, the tune is not identical note by note; as I've said, I've got so much to learn yet, particularly as regards to ornamentation.
